Greetings (3)
Wake-Up Stretch HelloA gentle stretch greeting to wake up sleepy bodies
Teacher Says
Reach your arms way up high like a tall tree. Stretch side to side. Now look at your neighbor, smile, and say 'Good morning, sunshine!'
Sunrise ArmsA slow arm-raise greeting like a rising sun
Teacher Says
Put your arms down low. Slowly raise them up like the sun coming up over the hills. When your arms are all the way up, wiggle your fingers like sunbeams and say 'The sun is up! Good morning!'
Caterpillar CrawlA finger-walking greeting to slowly build up energy
Teacher Says
Walk your fingers up your arm like a caterpillar — slowly, slowly. When your caterpillar reaches your shoulder, it turns into a butterfly! Flap your arms and say 'Good morning, butterfly!' to your neighbor.

Activities (4)
Stretch and YawnMovement5 minStretch your whole body like a cat waking up from a nap.
Steps
- Pretend you are a sleepy cat on a sunny rug.
- Stretch your arms out wide. Bigger! Even bigger!
- Open your mouth and do a big yawn. A real one!
- Stand up and stretch up to the ceiling like the cat is climbing a tree.
- Shake your whole body out. You are awake now, kitty cat!
Bumble Bee BreathBreathing5 minHum like a bumble bee to wake up your body with buzzy breaths.
Steps
- Sit up tall. Take a big breath in through your nose.
- Now hum like a bumble bee as you breathe out. Bzzzzzzz!
- Feel the buzzing in your lips? Do it again! Big breath in.
- Bzzzzzzz! Can you make the buzz last even longer this time?
- Three more buzzy breaths. Feel the tickle in your face!
Caterpillar Wake-UpMovement5 minCurl up small, slowly uncurl and stretch like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.
Steps
- Curl up as small as you can in your seat — tuck your head, hug your knees. You're a tiny caterpillar in a cocoon.
- Start to wiggle just a little. The caterpillar is waking up!
- Slowly sit up and stretch one arm out to the side, then the other. Your wings are growing!
- Stretch your arms all the way out wide and lift your chin up. You're a beautiful butterfly!
- Gently flap your butterfly wings up and down, slower and slower, until you're still.
Sound Scavenger HuntSensory5 minFind as many different sounds as you can in the room to wake up your ears.
Steps
- Freeze! Don't move. We're going on a sound scavenger hunt. You don't move your body — you move your EARS. Ready?
- Hold up a fist. For every different sound you hear, put up one finger. Listen for ten seconds. How many sounds did you find? The clock? The lights buzzing? Someone breathing? Birds outside?
- Now I'm going to make some sounds. Keep counting. Listen carefully — some will be quiet! Count on your fingers how many you hear.
- How many fingers are up? Who got five? Six? Seven? Your ears just woke UP! There are sounds all around us that we usually ignore.
- Put your hands down. Take one breath. Your ears are wide awake now. All those sounds were there the whole time — you just needed to turn on your listening superpower.
